On our master's programme, you will develop your technical, research and business skills alongside your awareness of environmental science and policy.
You will also build on your practical experience with fieldwork, lab work, placements and a research project.
Gain a thorough understanding of the scientific and socio-economic principles of environmental management, understand environmental issues, and develop skills for a career in environmental management and consultancy.
You’ll study topics such as waste management, ecosystem services and environmental economics, and be taught by leading academics and experts from industry.
Our master's programme is accredited by the Community for Environmental Disciplines in Higher Education (CEDHE), the education committee of the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES). CEDHE is the collective voice of the environmental sciences and related programmes in higher and further education. CEDHE plays a leading role in the Higher Education Environmental Science community and advocates for environmental science within education.
A programme accredited by CEDHE is assured to meet high standards, contain a strong component of practical, field and theoretical activities, and has excellent opportunities for training, work experience, and links to the professional environmental sector.
Students enrolled on CEDHE-accredited programmes can apply for free Student Membership of the IES and for a fast-track route to membership once they graduate, starting them on a route towards becoming a Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Scientist.
We are excited to announce a new scholarship for 2025 – the 51ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Excellence Scholarship. Over £1.75 million in funding, the majority of our overall funding, has been dedicated to this scholarship to support the studies of students from across the world.
The newly introduced 51ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Excellence Scholarship is available for students from every country in the world joining in the academic year 2025/26. The scholarship takes the form of a tuition fee reduction.
The Rotary Graduate Scholarship Programme also awards one scholarship for postgraduate study at 51ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø University in the academic year 2025/26, subject to the applicants’ studies, careers and community work fitting within Rotary’s area of focus, Protecting the Environment.

What's more, all 51ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø graduates also get a 20% alumni discount on their tuition fees - subject to eligibility criteria - so there is the potential to combine this Scholarship with the discount.
